Status ATLAS AES
Since 1 July 2009 the electronic export customs declaration with AES 2.0 has been mandatory for all companies in Germany. The paper declaration cannot be used any longer.
All in all there are many positive news on the electronic export procedure. Especially the fear of instability and the related downtimes have been few.
In the next months, ATLAS AES still has to give proof for the reliable return of exit confirmations, the follow up process (FUP) in case of unconfirmed exports, and the integration of online depreciation of export licenses.
Due to several recent problems, in November 2009 the follow up process has been put on hold (
ATLAS - Info 6216/09), and for BAFA export license depreciation there has been established a work-around process in case of technical denials (
ATLAS - Info 7646/09).
Successful Project: Swiss Export Declaration in e-dec
End of October 2009 one of my customers in Switzerland has had a successful GoLive for the export declaration with the Swiss customs system e-dec. On basis of SAP GTS 7.2 all export declarations are henceforth created electronically.
In Switzerland it is, in contrast to the EU, possible until 31 March 2010 to do the export handling in the old procedure VAR. Due to the complex ERP-processes, my customer has decided to an early switch to the new procedure – this one has been realized with a pilot business unit.
After a short stabilization phase the whole company has been enabled to handle its export declarations with e-dec Export.
Project: Error Correction and Process Optimization
During the final spurt to 1 July 2009, there have been numerous ATLAS AES project with SAP GTS. In order to staff these projects, some consulting companies have arranged special training sessions to create “SAP GTS Consultants” with high pressure. That the consulting quality of such a junior cannot match the know-how of an expert, has become evident for a major, international company, which has become a new client of mine.
Because of several problems in the customs department, I have been contracted to do an audit. Hereby many errors and improvement points have been identified for the company.
The errors have been corrected and the process has been considerably revised, so that the quality increased, the operation time – among others for the reduction of manual check and correction tasks – has been reduced, and software has become more comfortable for the employees.
If you are not satisfied with the customs processes in your IT system, I will gladly give you all the advice and practical support you require.
